Skardu is a beautiful town located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. It is famous for its stunning landscapes, crystal-clear lakes, and snow-capped mountains. The weather in Skardu is generally cool and pleasant, making it an ideal destination in the summer. The best time to visit Skardu Valley is from June to September. Skardu lies along the banks of the Indus River and is surrounded by towering peaks including K2, the world’s second-highest mountain.
Skardu is located about 250 km from Gilgit and around 640 km from Islamabad. It takes approximately 14 to 16 hours to reach Skardu by road from Islamabad. There are also regular flights from Islamabad to Skardu, which take about an hour.
Skardu is well known for its local handicrafts, such as handwoven woolen shawls, wooden carvings, traditional rugs, and gemstones.
